Laura Flood, PT, DPT

Laura graduated with her Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) in May of 2013 from Regis University in Denver and moved to Bend shortly after with her husband to pursue their career and recreational aspirations. Laura is from Melbourne, Australia where she studied a Bachelor of Applied Science in Exercise Science at Deakin University, graduating with Honors in 2001. In 2002, Laura represented her University at the National level in basketball and tutored undergraduates, while completing an arduous yearlong graduate research project investigating glucose metabolism during endurance cycling exercise, culminating in a published paper in the Journal of Applied Science. In 2003, Laura left her studies behind to follow her dreams of travel and headed to the U.S with a backpack and her ski gear! Laura worked as children’s ski instructor in Vail, Colorado for two winters.  In the pursuing years, Laura worked in both the rehab and sports worlds.  In the fall of 2009, Laura, her husband Robert and their dog Aly, moved to Golden, Colorado so that Laura could realize her dream of becoming a PT.

Laura is a mature soul who brings a contagious enthusiasm for helping others, combined with over a decade of experience in the health, fitness and wellness industry. Laura  worked as a personal trainer for over 10 years, is a registered yoga instructor and gained her level 2 ski instructor certification. Laura emphasizes a team approach to her PT care, whereby she is a guide and teacher on her patient’s path to their rehabilitation and healing. She stresses the importance of patient education and routine ‘body maintenance’ especially in a town like Bend where many people like to play hard, a concept that Laura understands well. Laura enjoys pushing her physical limits while immersing herself in nature and the outdoors. You will often find her out trail running, mountain biking, skiing, camping and paddling, as well as practicing her passion for yoga. Laura recently became a mother to a gorgeous little girl, a journey that has fueled her passion for Women's Health Physical Therapy.  Laura is thoroughly enjoying combining her personal and professional passions in life by specializing her PT practice in manual therapy and movement retraining, with a unique passion and special expertise in the areas of Women's Health, including pre and postnatal care, therapeutic yoga and sports specific rehabilitation including running and skiing.  Laura feels incredibly grateful to be expanding her life and profession here in this wonderful community in Bend!
